ACG Group unit ACG Engineering (ACGE) has purchased 100% shares of German pharmaceutical processing equipment provider Xertecs for an undisclosed amount.

Xertecs is involved in the development and deployment of processes, products and services for pharmaceutical companies globally.

The company offers conceptualisation, prototype development, design engineering, automation design and integration into MES systems.

It also develops components and complete plant design, including 3D modelling, as well as provides process optimisation and delivers new process equipment.

Xertecs has previously worked with ACG, which supplies end-to-end pharmaceutical manufacturing solutions.

ACG Engineering expects the acquisition to integrate European design into its existing engineering and manufacturing capabilities.

ACG Engineering group CEO Richard Stedman said: "This is a tremendous boost for our commitment to creating next-generation machines that serve our pharmaceutical and nutraceutical customers. The Xertecs team brings best-in-class design and product management skills to ACG Engineering.

"We are looking forward to developing a wide range of innovative, ground-breaking equipment solutions and best-practice initiatives between the two teams."

The company intends to turn a Xertecs facility and team located in Muellheim, Germany into a ‘Center of Excellence’, which will operate as ACG Innovation Centre Europe.

Xertecs sales and marketing managing director Klaus Groeschel said: "This represents a great opportunity for ACG to meet global design standards throughout its product portfolio. This is the next logical step in the relationship between our two businesses.

ACG’s portfolio comprises capsules, films and foils, as well as engineering and inspection systems. It focuses on offering solutions for manufacturing capsules and tablets.

The company operates with over 4,500 employees across more than 100 countries.
