Three, physical and chemical properties:
Boron tribromide has a strong pungent odor and is a colorless or slightly yellow fuming liquid at room temperature. The relative density is 2.64, the melting point is -46°C, and the boiling point is 91.7°C. It is soluble in carbon tetrachloride, has strong water absorption, and is easily decomposed by water and alcohol. It is easy to decompose when exposed to light or heat, and may explode when heated, and white smoke will be emitted when exposed to air. It is a strong Lewis acid that can react with alkali to form complexes and adducts. It has a strong stimulating effect, strong corrosiveness, and the vapor is toxic.

Four, use:
Electronic grade boron tribromide is used as a P-type doping source in semiconductor integrated circuits, solar cells, semiconductor separation devices and other industries, and P-type doping of crystalline silicon through thermal diffusion. Secondly, boron tribromide is also a raw material for the manufacture of high-purity boron and other organic borides.
